It's only human to feel sad, anxious, or overwhelmed at some point in our lives. Our struggle might be with someone we love, some problem at work, or something we use to help us escape the pain--for a moment. When our external stressors or internal suffering is left unaddressed, this can and will lead to depression, anxiety, relationship conflict, or compulsive tendencies to drink or misuse a substance. Our belief at Dr. Chad Coren and Associates is that your life SHOULD NOT be characterized by uncertainty, insecurity, and instability. It's during these times that people have reached out to us for help.
WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO. . .
As Licensed Psychologists (PsyD), Counselors (LPC), Social Workers (LCSW), and Certified Advanced Drug and Alcohol Counselors (CAADC), we designed our practice to assist intelligent, high-functioning adults, families, teenagers, and professionals overcome the emotional barriers, interpersonal struggles, and compulsive tendencies that that have prevented them from reaching their potential. People have sought us out for a variety of reasons. Many felt alone and were looking for a safe, private space in which to work through their concerns. Others were looking for a more personalized experience after struggling with a "one size fits all" treatment program that failed to see them as individuals. Whatever the reason, they wished for things to be different.
We offer our clients therapeutic services that are flexible and match the nature of their problems. In other words, we meet people where they're at and use techniques that are tailored to their needs. This might include the use of exploratory psychodynamic therapy, action-oriented cognitive-behavioral therapy, group therapy, or evidence-based therapy to treat concerns related to drinking or the misuse of a substance.
THERE'S MORE TO LIFE THAN FEELING STUCK. . .
Therapy offers people an opportunity to halt the progression of mood, drinking or substance misuse, or relationship conflict and reclaim their lives. In my experience, I've found that when people believe in the process of therapy and--more importantly--themselves, incredible changes can occur.
DR. COREN'S AREAS OF EXPERTISE
I specialize in concerns related to depression/anxiety, relationship conflict (e.g., family, marital), difficulties managing life stressors (e.g., work, life transitions), and problems related to drinking or the misuse of a substance.
WHO DO YOU TYPICALLY WORK WITH?
The clients I tend to work with are C-suite executives, physicians, attorneys, rock stars, actors, and working professionals in all industries. I also enjoy working with young, 20 something adults who are feeling lost and without direction in their careers, relationships, and self-worth.
The clients who tend to like working with me are typically high functioning, intelligent men who have historically struggled to discuss their problems with anyone and have resisted entering therapy unless things got bad. Bad you ask? Usually things involving relationship conflict, drinking concerns, work related stress, unexplored emotions, and mid-life crises. Unfortunately for them, I'm really easy to talk to, arguably hilarious, and make the therapy process feel like a conversation rather than a third-degree investigation.
